Natz-Schabs
A sustainable function and reuse should be defined for the former NATO base in Natsch-Schabs, therefore the bold decision to generate a benefit for both, the local community as well as for the region of Alto Adige was the basis for the competition proposal. Due to a profound research the general theme “apple” convinced with the highest potential for the region. The expected warming due to climate change will increase the apple production in the next 10 to 15 years, in the currently harsh climate in Pustertal and Eisacktal. The proposal consequently combines the local needs of recreations, leisure, cultural and vernacular institutions with the economical and touristic destination and regional development. Combining a central park for Alto Adige with the Alma Competence Centre (almaCC).
